Salon of Slides

Salon of Slides

Tuesday, April 16 at 7pm

Like a Book Club … with slides.

Join CARCIOFI for an intimate evening of learning and appreciation of art. Held at a private home (details to be shared upon registration), this lecture will take you all on a journey through the history of art, highlighting key movements, artists, and works of art.

Using analog ‘tech’ of slide projectors and original art history slides, this overview of the History of Art will be led by Veronica Hogan – former director of Atlanta Contemporary, curator, art consultant, educator, and floral designer. The evening will encourage questions and discussion, creating an interactive and engaging experience with the slides – and presentation – beautifully curated to leave everyone feeling inspired and enlightened by the world of art history!

IMPORTANT :: This event will NOT be presented virtually. A virtual program will occur later in April, details forthcoming.

Wine Sponsored by Lingua Franca

Lingua Franca is the culmination of Master Sommelier, Larry Stone’s life-long quest to find a great vineyard site and make wine. He has joined forces with talented winemaker Thomas Savre and consulting winemaker, Burgundy icon, Dominique Lafon to produce nuanced and flavorful wines from the exceptionally located vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley.

Poured by Luxury Ambassador: Daphne Stratta

Sharing memories, delicious food, and superb wines with family is where Daphne found her calling to the hospitality industry. Growing up as a third generation Italian in suburban Chicago, great wine and food was never hard to come by. After an injury derailed her professional ballet career in New York City, what once was a part-time restaurant position, turned into a lifelong passion. Daphne found so much joy surrounding food & wine, learning from experts across the restaurant world at the age of 18. Traveling back to Chicago and beginning her hospitality degree at Kendall College, she dove deeper into the fascinating world of wine. Achieving her first sommelier certificate before the age of 21 was just one of her first endeavors.

Daphne has worked on the floors of numerous fine dining establishments in the city of Chicago, curating tasting menus and collaborating with numerous Michelin star chefs. Throughout her restaurant career, Daphne searched for every opportunity to not only advance her knowledge but also share it with others. Some of her accolades include articles in the Chicago Tribune, The Local Tourist, Lux and Concord, and Modern Luxury - Chicago Social Magazine. Pursuing her education, Daphne dove into the world of winemaking, working on various projects in Napa alongside infamous winemaker, Heidi Barrett. Achieving her Certified Sommelier certificate through the Court of Master Sommeliers is just another example of her strive for perfection within the industry.
